Prospective Students

Welcome!

Are you interested in making a difference?  Well, that is what my students and I challenge ourselves everyday to achieve.  We work as a collective group-sounding ideas off each other and encouraging one another.  I really enjoy coming to work everyday because it is such a positive and encouraging environment and I enjoy working with fellow faculty and students with similar goals.

So what would it take to be part of our team.  Frankly, this last year I probably had over 70 undergraduate / master students contact me to study with me as a graduate student.   I generally focus my time and energy mentoring 4th year Barrett Honors College undergraduate students and the most highly qualified / motivated PhD students.  My evaluation criteria in selecting future PhD students follows the following basic framework:

  1. Graduate of a Strong Undergraduate or Masters Program
  2. Outstanding Work Ethic. This is demonstrated by letters of references from faculty of your current school and by extracurricular activities in conjunction to items 3 & 4 below.
  3. Very Good Grades
  4. Strong GRE’s
  5. Well Thought Out Statement of Purpose
  6. Excellent Communication Skills!!!  Why?  My goal is to prepare you to obtain the best possible job in academia, industry or government.  To that end, I will push you to write multiple peer-reviewed Journal articles to the best journals and present your research to peers at numerous conferences.  You must come into the program well prepared to explore, examine and document your work.

If you are interested in the challenge then by all means, please feel free to contact me.  E-mail works best.  No matter what path you take, I wish you all the best and success!
